Board Members


David Palumbo

David is the Chief Academic Officer, National Heritage Academies (NHA). Throughout his more than twenty-year career, David has developed a unique background with deep expertise in both technology and education.

Prior to joining NHA, David served in a variety of roles including: president of CTB/McGraw Hill, the leading publisher of comprehensive test systems for children and adults; vice president and chief learning officer for Sapient Corporation, a leading business and technology consultancy; and CEO of WOWIO, an emerging leader in e-book distribution. In addition, David also was a tenured faculty member in the Department of Instructional Technology at the University of Houston for more than a decade.

Palumbo received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Michigan, as well as a Masters of Arts in educational psychology and Doctorate in educational psychology/instructional technology from West Virginia University.


Eric Hogue

Eric is a senior strategist and marketing scientist with Millward Brown, a marketing research company that provides strategic branding advice to 80 of the top 100 global brands.

Eric leads Millward Brown North America's portfolio of strategic branding methodologies and consults on a regular basis with management in financial services, technology, consumer packaged goods and automotive. He received his graduate degree in business from Vanderbilt University. Eric co-founded ARCA Partners, a nonprofit foundation that puts new media in the service of international development.


Paula Campbell

Paula is currently the Head of Global Content for Morgan Stanley's global electronic trading business.

Prior to moving to Morgan Stanley in 2008, Paula served as a Case Team Leader and Head of Customer Insight at Bain & Co. Paula received her M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and her B.A. from Yale University. Born in Jamaica, Paula is passionate about economic development in the Caribbean.


Dan Barnicle
Board Member

Co-founder of Dan Barnicle is the Content Management & Collaboration Practice Lead for SapientNitro, part of Sapient, a leading global marketing and technology solutions firm.

He is responsible for developing and driving SapientNitro's expertise and business within the content management & collaboration space by combining deep business analysis, user-centered design methodology and technology expertise. Prior to his current role, Barnicle spent the last ten years leading a number of large enterprise content and knowledge management engagements for Global 500 companies across North America, South America, and Europe. After a long tenure in Munich, Germany, where he established and grew Sapient's presence, Barnicle is now based at the company's global headquarters in Boston, MA. He holds a Bachelor of Computer Engineering with High Honors from Georgia Institute of Technology. Barnicle took on as a pro-bono project in the fall of 2007, attracting creative studio volunteers to the cause.


Dr. Joan K. Singleton
Board Member

Joan is the Vice President for Workforce and Organizational Effectiveness at Milton Hershey School.

Prior to joining Milton Hershey School, Joan was the Vice President of Finance and Administration/ Chief Financial Officer at Azusa Pacific University. She also served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of La Petit Academy. Joan serves on the boards of World Vision US, VisionFund International and Eastern University. Joan received her Doctorate in Higher Education Management, from the University of Pennsylvania, has a Masters in Taxation degree from Villanova School of Law and Bachelor degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from Eastern University. She is a Certified Public Accountant.


Elizabeth Perdue
Vice Chair

Elizabeth is actively involved with Opportunity International (OI), serving on their Board of Directors. She is also chair of the Women's Opportunity Network.

These non-profit microfinance organizations help poor entrepreneurs (primarily women) in developing countries help themselves by providing them with small business loans, as well as business and leadership training, savings, and insurance. Ms. Perdue received her J.D. from the University of Chicago in 1982 and her B.A. from Pomona College in 1976. She is passionate about empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs to make a difference.


Katie Smith Milway
Board Member

One Hen, Inc. Co-Founder, board member and author, One Hen: How One Small Loan Made a Big Difference. Prior to moving to Bridgespan in 2008, Katie served as editorial director and founding publisher at Bain & Co.

Katie co-founded with Sapient Interactive, the pro bono effort that gave rise to One Hen, Inc. A graduate of Stanford University and INSEAD, Katie spent a decade working in and around a dozen countries in Africa on sustainable development projects, including village banking, food security, primary health care, water resourcing and education with organizations such as Food for the Hungry, World Relief and World Vision.


Karen Schultz
Board Member

One Hen, Inc. Co-Founder and past Director of Partnerships and Communication. Since the launch of the organization in 2008, Karen has worked to develop and manage the One Hen partnerships and alliances in the microfinance, education and corporate sectors. In addition, she was responsible for directing communications and public relations programs. In December 2012, she move from a One Hen staff position to become a board member and now actively participates in steering the growth and outreach of One Hen's curriculum and programs to students in the US and across the globe.

Karen is a seasoned marketing consultant with over 15 years of experience in developing strategic partnerships and customer acquisition programs for ecommerce and retail businesses. Karen served as Vice President of Operations at Schoolpop, an internet fundraising company reaching over 20,000 schools nationwide. Prior to Schoolpop, she served as Vice President of Marketing for Kidsoft, Inc. and managed investment partnerships with Hearst Communications and strategic partnerships with Toys R Us, Blockbuster and Nickelodeon.


Lisa Leslie Henderson
Board Member

Lisa Leslie Henderson is a writer, connector, and mentor, with a special interest in social change. A Stanford and Tuck grad, Lisa has worked on Wall Street, in consulting, and public television.
